Little blue bear, pictured above, arrives at Chez Davis each morning (Monday through Thursday) at approximately 5:15 a.m. Not only does he have blue ears, there's a blue tail on the back, too!
His normal routine is to continue snoozing in his car seat for at least two hours. Grandpa carries him into the master bedroom, puts on a soft light and goes back to bed himself. So, my little blue bear and big bear are both sleeping quietly.
During that time, I stay up and get a little quiet time to myself as well. Usually spend it unpacking boxes and boxes. Today, it was necessary. I baked a chocolate cake; needed to find my cake pan!
We've observed a few interesting things from our windows this week. Twice (once at twilight and another time in early a.m.) we saw a group of five mule deer in or near our driveway. In the boy-oh-boy department, last night -- around 6:00 p.m. in the darkness -- we saw a vehicle slowly drive up -- it was the fire-rescue truck. Driver got out, and we could see in his headlights, was measuring our drive. He never came to the door; just measured and slowly drove off.
Today, we got the news. Our driveway has failed fire inspection, based on an ordinance that is about one year old. Apparently, all drives must now be 20-feet wide in order to accommodate rescue vehicles. Ours averages 16 feet. So, this a.m. Glenn was in the back with our builder, and our new neighbor -- who also happens to have an excavation business and who installed the drive. Mmmm. . . it will be interesting to see how much $$ they attempt to charge US for having installed a drive that does not meet code.
I have finally found enough of my kitchen wares that we are having the Jurgens over for dinner on their way home from work. It only seems fitting that after having lived with them for nearly six months that THEY are our first guests in the new dining room! For the curious: tilapia.
My computer remains at the Jurgen household. Sigh. Can't install internet until the computer is moved; can't move the computer until my desk is set up; can't set up the desk until the electrician comes back and installs the outlets in the office which he forgot. . . despite the fact that I gave him a diagram!! Sigh.
Off to run errands, then finish dinner preparations, perhaps unpack another box or two, and relieve Grandpa. . .although he rarely needs relief; he's always messin' with the little blue bear!
