PHOTOS BY REQUEST . . . Part 2

The Foyer

The house faces west but since our front porch is 8' deep with an overhang, we're thinking we will not get a great deal of intense sun in these windows.

The door at the left is a coat closet. The paint used in the foyer, great room, dining room, kitchen and office are Tinsmith Gray and Sporty Blue, both from Sherwin Williams.

When Glenn and I visited the Parade of Homes in August, we came away feeling as though every builder was given the same box of materials and told to design a house. EVERY home featured earth-tones, the same brown 'shag-style' carpeting, etc. Many of the workers who've been in our house have commented on the colors and I believe it's due, in part, to the fact that they're not the same we've seen everywhere!

The stair from the foyer leads to the bonus room area.

The Great Room

. . .is in the center of the main floor. The fireplace (south wall) is propane. The hearth and surround feature the same tiles and listello from the palette we selected. So, throughout the house the tile and decorative accents (called a listello; I didn't know that, either) come from the same collection. The mantle is made of knotty-alder as is all cabinetry, hand rails, etc. All of the ceilings are 9-feet, which really add a feeling of openness and airiness. I'd thought I would miss our cathedral ceilings from the Reese house, but I don't.

I didn't insert a photo here, but to the left is a patio door with, again, two sets of 3' x 5' flanking windows. The door leads to our back deck.
