FEBRUARY FISHING

No new photos to post, but February has begun as a good fishing month for us. We returned to Devil's Creek Reservoir on Thursday, February 5. (Since Josh's folks are visiting from Ohio, we didn't have Miles as usual)
We didn't limit out that day, but did bring home nine really nice rainbows. This time, Glenn convinced me that the delicate trout could hold up to filleting, so that's how we cleaned them. Having left our 30+ year-old chest freezer in Michigan, our freezer space is limited. Since we already have eight whole rainbows frozen, we decided that a meal must be made of this catch. So, we invited new friends Barry and Dixie Smith, retired educators from AZ, over for dinner on Friday night. We lighted breaded the fillets with a flour and cornmeal mixture and deep-fried them over our propane ring used for camping. They simply melted in our mouths!
On Sunday, February 8, we tried our luck again. Actually, we'd planned to go skiing but when the time to get up come rolled around (6:00 a.m.), I was sleeping so hard Glenn couldn't bring himself to wake me. . . so fishing was our second choice.
The going was slow, yet we brought home another 11 rainbows. In reality, we did limit out with 12, but one was small enough we put him back for another go-round.
In the meantime, Glenn sort of threw his back out a bit on Sunday a.m. so he's been moving slowly. Last evening, however, Josh's folks came for a visit to see our house and have dinner. So, for the first time ever, Miles was with all of his "people", ie. both sets of grandparents and his folks, simultaneously. Good visit.
Today I have the last of my three ski lessons at Pebble Creek. Unfortunately, I need to get ready in about an hour and it's snowing to beat the band here with very low visibility. . . the kind of day I would normally say "thanks, but no thanks" to a ski invitation. Oh, well. . . soldier on!
Tomorrow, the little "blue bear" returns to us at 5:10 a.m. Grandpa Glenn can't wait. Together, Glenn and Miles have formed the "Handsome Guys of America Club." Recently, they approved the "applications" of Joshua and Grandpa Curt to join. I have been given the dubious title of "Handsome Guys of America Club Auxiliary" which gives me responsibility for minutes of meetings, handling the treasury, editing the newsletter, refreshments and clean up! Grandpa and Miles have quite the imaginations! They have "parades" every day (just like Disneyland). Miles rides on Grandpa's shoulders and they sing their club song and go around the house and look in every mirror. Of course, as the only member of the appreciative crowd, they pass me several times as well. The parades are scheduled daily at 11:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Well, off to eat a bit and think about preparing for my last lesson. Even a I type this, it looks like a little clearing is on the horizon, so perhaps it will brighten up after all.
