Waiting for Guests!

Although we do believe in the philosophy that Back door friends are best we're happy to have the front of our home more nearly finished.
The picture above really doesn't do the it justice -- it's ultimately going to be very pretty from the front (at least I think). However, we finally have the steps, hand rails and front sidewalk installed. We haven't planted the front flower bed yet; the flowers growing there now are the native Nuttal's sunflowers which sprung up wherever the soil had been disturbed in the building process.

The main drive to our house circles up to the back where the garage doors are. Glenn decided that since we have a nice front door, porch and steps it looked a little odd to have no way for anyone to get to them. So, we did hire (at an additional expense) the same neighbor to install a second, seasonal drive and gravel pad. Now, if we ever have any guests (still waiting for someone other than the Jurgen's to drive up!), we have a drive leading to the front. This will be accessible only during non-snow months as we're not planning to keep it cleared in the winter. However, since it is on the south/southwest side of our hill, it may stay somewhat clear on its own.
This morning I fulfilled a dream of mine. . . I spent a part of the early a.m. sitting on my front porch with a freshly brewed cup of coffee just enjoying the spectacular weather and scenery.
