SWIMMING SKULLDUGGERY!

Not really, but Miles DID get a new bathing suit for the second-round of his Water Babies class! And, it features skulls! He was quite certain he would cut an intimidating figure in these trunks, but alas, having to wear them while singing songs such as I Had A Baby Turtle, Old McDonald Had A Farm and The Hokey-Pokey sort of contradicted the image he was trying to project.
Despite the ski hill behind our house now being officially closed (during the week at least . . . upcoming weekend will feature snowmobile races there and some limited skiing), winter continued last night. At one point the windows were pelted with snow that cracked against the glass like hail. During the night, I woke up one time to the sound of thunder. Everything today remains pretty much covered in white but the roads are now dry. Ambient temperature isn't too bad, but a sharp breeze from the north again keeps things feeling cool.
Another reminder that we're not in Kansas anymore . . . just before leaving for the Water Bugs class (that's what I like to call it), I phoned the neighbor to alert them. . . one of their horses was outside the pasture fence looking in! At one point, it was in our driveway. As I type this entry, a pair of red-tailed hawks is circling in the air outside my office window. We're up high enough on the hill, the birds occasionally swoop by at near-eye level.
