sMILES Update

     Just thought I'd take a few moments this morning to report on a sMiles-Guy update.  While it may appear in the photo where he's helping Grandma bake oatmeal/raisin/chocolate chip cookies that he is part of some creepy forced child labor endeavor, he's actually protesting having his picture taken.  He's taken to saying things like this:

     Grandma:  "Miles, how about I take your picture?"

     Miles:  "How 'bout not take picture?"

     He basically says that about most things now.  Let's just say, however, that he's eaten enough of the oatmeal cookies to let me know the protesting may have been a little more about control of his environment than the 'work' of helping with baking them!

     In the photo taken at the Inkom City Park, Miles gets a push from Grandpa.  Last week, Miles decided that both of these monkeys accompany him.  Of course, Zu-Hi (the dollar-store, ever faithful monkey companion) is visible, well, at least his tail is visible between Miles' legs.  The other friend is Funky-Monkey, a $25 Pier One import from some colorful land, whom Grandma purchased brand new at St. Vincent's in Pocatello for $1.99.  In the update department, however, we made a big discovery on this day at the park.  Miles is now tall enough that he can drag his feet in the dirt while swinging in the safety seat!  About ten days ago we marked a spot in the attic on a 2" x 4" to commemorate his second birthday; he's now 35 1/2" tall.

     As I type this, Miles and Grandpa are in the kitchen, participating in the morning ritual of feeding each other their vitamins.  There's a zucchini on the counter.  Miles just remarked, "Tired of zucchini!"  Too bad, there's a few more on the plant, kid!

     Glenn and I are leaving this Friday (9/3) in the wee hours of the morning for our annual fly fishing/hiking trip to Yellowstone.   It takes three hours to get to the park but about another two for us to wind our way to the northeast corner Slough Creek campground we favor.  This year, a bonus.  The Jurgen family will join us for the holiday weekend.  Perhaps the two monkeys as well.  More wildlife to be seen in the park!
