Gingerbread and Graham Crackers

The greatest challenge of creating 'gingerbread' houses using graham crackers with the "book babies" is having them not EAT all of their homes before construction is completed! Miles and I attended BOOK BABIES at Marshall Library in Pocatello on December 8. The activity is as suggested, building the houses together. Fortunately, the Children's Librarian was foresighted enough to pass out extra crackers for the sole purchase of munching. That didn't stop Miles from also eating one wall and a candy 'window.' Due to (I believe) the cold conditions that morning (brrr!!) not many kids showed up that day, so extra supplies were on hand.
Although we experienced some bitter cold temperatures at night this week, the days actually presented themselves pleasantly. One early morning, the Jurgens' reported a temp of -29 degrees on their car's onboard thermometer as they drove to work. But later the same day, friend Dixie and I strolled up the hill and frankly, got a little hot as we'd overdressed for the occasion.
Late yesterday afternoon, Glenn and I drove into Pocatello for some shopping; picked up our last gift for the Miles-Guy, ate dinner out at a little local restaurant (Oliver's). We're still searching for a great Friday night fish fry. We found a good one at the local Red Lion Hotel Cafe, but it's only open until 1:00pm; they feature deep-fried halibut.
We rounded out the excursion with the ever-popular grocery shopping. I thought the store would be packed full on a Friday evening, but we must have hit it just right; actually fairly quiet.
Since we spent yesterday morning cleaning the house pretty well, I may just tackle baking some Christmas cookies today. That, and the also ever-popular balancing our bank accounts and writing out bills. Yech.
