Granted, the cows shown in these two photos really aren't 'wildlife' but the term escapades applies! They have 'escaped' from their pasture!
Yesterday, Glenn went hunting about 4:00 in the afternoon. Miles and I decided to take a shower and get cleaned up. Around 4:45 when we walked from the bathroom into the bedroom. . . .there were four cows marching down our driveway! I recognized them from 'over the hill' but the phone calls I attempted were fruitless and I've not been able to locate and notify their owner. In the meantime, they've spent the night in our area. . .wandering back and forth between the neighbors 'two doors down' and our yard. The aforementioned neighbors have a white final fence around their yard, and of course, the pasture behind our house is fenced. Apparently these bovines can't figure out (or don't care to!) how to get back up over the hill and go 'home.'
Earlier today, we looked out the front and they were standing in our new drive, just off the front porch. When I opened the door to take their picture, they skedaddled back down . . .resulting in the two pictures here . . . in our yard!
Speaking of wildlife. . .Glenn as mentioned tried bow hunting last night. Didn't see any deer while he was out there, but this morning in the fresh snow, observed many tracks in our yard and drive!
And, in the most exciting news. . . we spotted a cow MOOSE up the hill yesterday afternoon using the spotting scope. About 9:30 a.m. today, we were sitting on the floor playing with Miles when I saw a large, dark object moving rather quickly across a snow-blanketed field up the hill. Training the scope on it. . . it was a BULL MOOSE . . . very evident rack on its head, trotting across country. We watched it for several minutes, but then it went behind a hill and we couldn't see if it came back out or stayed there. Glenn says it's moose mating season. . . which may account for both the cow and bull being in the same vicinity.
Who needs daytime t.v. when I can just watch out the window?
