It is just amazing how one small bundle can change the routine of a household!! Glenn and I welcomed with delight our grandson, Miles Lee, born Friday, August 15 at 9:37 p.m. He weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces and is 21 1/2 inches "tall." He has won over our hearts completely!
This past week has flown by in a flash . . . becoming acquainted with the new member of our family, and the role of grandparenting has been just delightful. As do all grandparents, we just know OUR grandson is the cutest, smartest little boy on the planet!!
Mother, father and baby all doing just fine . . .it's wonderful watching the three of them bond together into their own family unit.
Glenn and I spent last Friday meeting with our electrician and viewing about 10 houses in the local "Parade of Homes." We're grateful for the agenda items; otherwise we'd have spent the day pacing and worrying about the entire Jurgen family as they progressed through labor and delivery.
My, how times have changed! We were kept updated by Josh during the day. But, within an hour and a half of the delivery, Meg phoned and said "C'mon meet your grandson!" We arrived at the Portneuf Medical Center within two hours of his birth and held him before midnight! Wow!!
While getting acclimated to our new roles as grandparents, we've also been progressing with the house. Rough electricity is in as is plumbing. The central vac system vents/ducts/etc are in place. The roof's ridge cap venting has been installed. So, if all goes as planned the insulation will go in early next week with drywalling of living space to follow.
The builder is now requesting we visit with the cabinetry folks as that's next up on the agenda. I've pretty much made the decision about flooring and we're close to a conclusion about the fireplace. So many choices and each one predicated on another!! Aargh!! If I were more right-brained and creative this would be easier. I'm just worried about things like choosing a ceramic tile and then looking at it and thinking "Oh, my gosh! That's ugly!" And then living with it for the next 20 years!!
